How will sports benefit our children when they are adults?

My 15 minute cleanse.

The other day I had a very restless sleeping pattern literally for the entire night. I had quite a few meetings set up and was unsure how I would physically and mentally get through the day. I took myself off for a vigorous 15-minute walk, as that was all I had time for. I managed to come up with some excellent solutions to some problems I was worried about and had a very productive day after only 15 minutes of exercise. I felt invigorated and managed to conduct myself professionally for the entire day.

How sports act as a release for children.

Children are under so much pressure in every aspect of their lives and sports create an excellent release. They also learn so many valuable life lessons.  Let’s go into this in a little more detail.

Low muscle tone.

Playing sport can greatly improve the life of children who suffer from low muscle tone. It is important that these children continuously play sport and don’t start and stop their activity levels.

Physical health in sports.

Ensure your children stay fit and healthy by improving their heart rate, which ultimately comes from physical activity. Blood flow, muscle development, flexibility and joint movements are wonderful side effects of playing sports.

Intellectual benefits.

Activity creates neuro corridors from the brain which enhances intellectual development. Making it easier for young children to learn new information easily.

Concentration in the classroom.

Sports improve children’s strength skills which assists them in being able to concentrate for longer periods of time in the classroom.

Social benefits.

Participating in sport creates a wonderful opportunity for children to enhance their social abilities. This is critically important as social media creates an atmosphere of solitary participation. COVID 19 has also negatively impacted on our children’s abilities to interact.

Emotional growth.

Eye contact and team participation is an important part of playing sport. These are essential life skills for our children to have good emotional growth. Many strong friendships are developed on the sports field which extend into adulthood.

Confidence.

Playing sport creates a wonderful fun environment for weight management and physical wellbeing. As children develop a good self-image, they naturally improve their confidence.

Ball sports helps with reading.

Boost your child’s midline by participating in sport. Ball sports in particular assist in this regard. This also supports children during reading skills in more formal education.

Sleep patterns

We often hear parents complaining about children who struggle to fall asleep. Youngsters who play sport are normally very good sleepers.

Discipline

Strong values and discipline are encouraged on the sports field. Many educators and parents are struggling with children’s discipline. Coaches and team mates often educate and encourage rules and guidelines and this assists in building discipline in a fun and easy way.

Winning and losing the appropriate way.

Sport teaches children about failure and how to handle loss. This is essential so that when children reach obstacles, they can handle them in an appropriate manner. On the upside they also learn how to win diplomatically.

Ensuring an exceptional life for our children!

I believe that people who play sport enjoy life on a physical, mental, and social level that far exceeds those who don’t. After all our role as educators and parents is to ensure that all our children have an exceptional life. Take this into consideration when raising your child. Sports plays a much more important role than just staying active.
